Well it depends on what you prefer, i mean on a dry course there isnt any problem but get on a wet course and you will need to clip out. if it was me i would never use clip ins cause you never know when you are gonna need to un clip. |

As for having more control using clipins, Sam Hill uses flats and he has got plenty of bike control |

would it be possible for people posting on here to learn how to spell the words they want to use before you type them please? and not to say mate after every other word...
(not just you josh, but mostly )
maybe then itl save people having to read posts 50million times to make sense of them.... _________________

Good point, it does annoy me a little.
as for the clips you should try both at hamsterley on sunday, try tackling the rock garden with the clips and then you can really see the good points and bad points. |

Having used both, they both have there pros and cons. So here we go:
My main concern with spuds is the unclipping. I always say that if i hadn't been using clips when i did my arm i would have been able to jump off the bike and wouldn't have metal in my arm and a 10inch scare. Another con is getting clipped back if you have to clip out which costs you a lot of time, you just dont feel right with one foot clipped in and one foot out cause you don't have the grip of a regular pedal and you seem to find yourself messing around looking to get clipped in again.
But on the other hand i always flet alot faster with clips especially on rough courses cause when you pedal you can push and pull where with flats you only push. Another pro is that you defo have a lot more control over the bike its so easy to move it around hop over rocks and roots that you might not have been able to do with flats.
Hope this helps but you will soon find out which you prefer but give it time mate to get used to em. _________________ Practise makes compound fractures before it makes perfect!!!!

Josh,
Get yourself a pair of five ten shoes or boots, they are excellent and your feet never move about on the pedals.I prefer to be clipped in for xc and use flats with five tens for DH but eveyone has there own preference. |
